The Simply Posh Boutique will soon be open again. Due to the road construction in downtown Hampton, and impediments to our customers, we closed the shop for a while and will reopen on July 1, 2025 (that’s today)!
Watch Out for Road Construction
In the foreseeable future, we anticipate the street closures will continue. We do not know the extent of the project nor when it will be completed. It seems to be a bit like the HRBT. Painful while happening with promises of something wonderful when finished.
The other effect of the road construction is that we have lost all on-street parking on Kings Way. The parking lot behind our building is still open. It is the best parking option for visitors to Simply Posh Boutique. The Parking Garage on the next block is also available and provides a significant number of parking spaces.
At this point, we will focus on the works created by Gaynette in her Workshop – which is inside our Simply Posh Boutique. Since we are reopening the Boutique, it is the perfect time for us to re-acquaint you with what we do.
Let’s Get Re-aquainted
Gaynette: “For the past several years, I have been buying old furniture that has been discarded at thrift stores or is about to be placed in the trash. I love taking the old, worn out, maybe even kind of beat up, pieces and turning them into lovely statement pieces that show off a beloved home. My own home is filled with refurbished one-of-a-kind pieces.”
And you will find local folks all over Hampton Roads, as well points north, south, and west of here, who own unique, beautiful pieces we have created.
What do We Do?
We restore*, paint, and embellish wood dressers, tables, boudoir chests, etc. We can work with customers and clients on furniture they already own and/or we can help them acquire and design something aged – to make new.
- We work with our customers and clients on pieces of furniture that they already own. For example, a chest of drawers that was handed down from a grandmother that is endeared but showing its age. Or a piece that was purchased as that first piece of really nice furniture for a pair of newlyweds – 30 years ago and before the 3 children that came along later. Or we can help someone find a piece they have imagined but never bought, and cannot find the exact the vision they have.
We both help our customers with decisions like color selection and theme embellishments, and we match a customer’s own visions – something Gaynette loves to do! - We buy, paint, and embellish our own furniture. These are later sold in the Simply Posh Boutique, at the Design and Consign Indoor Marketplace in Newport News, and online at Etsy.

And come see Gaynette in the re-opened Simply Posh Boutique. Have a cup of coffee, look through her “Idea Book,” watch her work. Or just come in and have a chat in our Conversation Corner under the beautiful stained glass lamp!
* We are not wood workers. We do minor repairs with sandpaper, glue, Bondo, wood filler, etc. but we do not rebuild furniture.
