Well, we made it through the winter. Things were definitely busy for us with lots of medical appointments for the aches and pains of growing older. Nothing serious, just nuisance factors. Now that spring has sprung, we are busy with several new projects.
Over the winter, I did manage to complete a couple of painting projects. One was this lovely cocktail table. It is larger than most that you see in today’s market at just about 5 feet wide. It was a scratched and worn table that had clearly seen many years of use. Since it was a very well made piece of furniture, we only needed to fill in the scratches on the top and then paint it. Because it was a more formal design, we decided to keep the embellishments in keeping with the formality. Because I tend to like to work with fancy floral transfers (a form of decal), it was interesting to create this minimal design. It is simple, elegant, and will work well in a large, formal living room.
As always, if you have a piece of furniture you would like to keep, but it is worn, scratched, maybe a bit of peeling veneer, do not hesitate to let us know. We will meet with you, discuss the look you would like to have with the piece, colors that you do and do not want to include, and any design preferences you may have. We will prepare an estimated cost estimate for you. We love to work with people to create the showpiece they desire for their beloved but worn furniture item. It is very gratifying to see the smiles of pleasure when delivering something that is so special and meaningful for or clients.
You can visit and see this table at Design and Consign in Newport News after May 11. Just ask for the Simply Posh booth.
