This table began as a creative experiment and quickly turned into something truly special. I have worked with epoxy on very small pieces in the past, but this was my first time using an epoxy finish on an actual piece of furniture. I was curious, a little nervous, and excited to see how the layers would come together. In the end, the results exceeded my expectations so much that this piece now lives in my booth at Design and Consign in Newport News, where it is available for purchase.
One of the things I love most about working with vintage and thrifted furniture is the freedom to experiment. Older pieces often come with good bones and unique shapes, and they invite creativity without a huge investment. This table is a perfect example of how an inexpensive, overlooked piece can be transformed into a striking accent for a home.
The design of this table is all about layers and depth. At the base, alternating rings of rich purple and warm gold wrap around the pedestal, creating a sense of rhythm and movement. Those tones carry upward and tie beautifully into the soft lavender paint blended across the tabletop. Between the painted surface and the final floral design is a subtle layer of stamped imagery, adding texture and visual interest that reveals itself the longer you look.
The floral composition on the top is vibrant and romantic, filled with soft pinks, creams, and muted greens that balance the bold purple background. Floating above it all is a clear, high-gloss epoxy finish that gives the entire surface a glass-like appearance. The effect is almost as if the flowers are suspended under water, creating depth, shine, and a luxurious feel that invites conversation.
This Purple Royalty Occasional Table is sized perfectly to be versatile in your home. It would make a lovely statement piece in an entryway, a charming conversation starter in a living room, or an elegant bedside table that adds personality and color to a bedroom. However it is styled, it brings together creativity, craftsmanship, and a touch of drama.
Pieces like this remind me why I love what I do. With a bit of imagination, patience, and a willingness to try something new, old furniture can become something truly unique and beautiful.
