The next item in our Royal Purple Series is the Royal Purple Nightstand/Cabinet. This piece was a challenge to work with. It was quite scuffed up, scratched and gouged. While we were unable to remove all the imperfections, many of them are gone. Those imperfections actually add to the character and beauty of this cabinet.
Some of our followers have inquired as to the specific products we use on our furniture pieces. On this nightstand/cabinet, we used a number of media. We especially wanted to create an item of great beauty with this particular Royal Purple cabinet. Our materials included Moder Masters “Amethyst” metallic paint, some gold leaf, more Modern Masters metallic gold paint, iridescent wax from Redesign with Prima, and fabulous stick-on wallpaper lining the interior with an other-worldly theme in rich colors. We also created the furniture knobs with a mold from Redesign with Prima. Wonderfully, all of these products are available on Amazon.
This nightstand has been on display in the window of our Simply Posh Studio in downtown Hampton for the better part of the last year. As we have developed more room in the booth at Design and Consign in Newport News, I have decided to move it there. Not only will it be on display at Design and Consign, it will actually be for sale.
While the dark purple color will definitely not work with many people’s home décor, we believe there will be a place for it as a statement or conversation piece as it adorns a special place in a new home.
There is actually a companion piece to this little cabinet. It has not yet been painted and embellished and can be customized for anyone who would like to buy it – either in conjunction with this one in our Royal Purple Series or as a separate stand-along nightstand or living room end table. Just let us know if you are interested!
We will likely start work on the companion piece sometime in January.
