Gay LaRue – Simply Posh by Gaynette
Gay LaRue, owner of Simply Posh Studio, has been painting and embellishing furniture and home décor since retiring from her career as a financial advisor in 2000. She is married to Tom Wood and they live in Hampton, VA. They have two children – their daughter. Cindy Winter, lives in the house next door! She is currently teaching high school in Leesburg, Virginia, and don’t ask, it is a long story! Their son Scott, lives and works in Colorado Springs, Colorado doing something-or-other in the computer field. He is married and has two children with the first grandchild on the way!
Gay’s specialty is transforming older, time-worn furniture into elegant statement pieces using paint, gilding, and thoughtful embellishments. Every item reflects her creative vision and passion for design.
Patti Paul – Patti Lee Designs
Patti Paul of Patti Lee Designs is a fellow artisan and member of the Simply Posh Studio. Like Gay, she transforms smaller pieces of furniture and décor into works of art. Patti is a retired nurse who devoted her career to helping patients in need of home health services. Now, she channels her caring spirit into her artwork, creating décor that brings beauty and comfort to people’s homes.
Patti lives in Hampton, VA, and her daughter lives in Seattle, WA. Her love for painting and design shines through every piece she creates.
A Studio with a Story
Simply Posh Studio began as both a retail boutique and a workshop showcasing the work of multiple artisans. While the retail shop has transitioned into a dedicated workshop space for Gay and Patti, the studio still represents other talented artists:
- Gloria Coker Fine Art – stunning original paintings
- James River Woods – epoxy tables and trays
- Painted Glass by Cindi – colorful poured paint glasswork
These creations remain available for sale alongside Gay and Patti’s refurbished furniture and décor.
